Community Guidelines & Ethical Debate Code
Our rules for respectful debate, constructive criticism, and civil discourse on AITA Vibes.
1. The Fundamental Rule: Attack the Action, Not the Person
AITA Vibes exists to analyze choices, boundaries, and communication. We welcome intense, passionate debate about ethical decisions, but we do not tolerate dehumanizing cruelty. You may argue that an individual made a selfish, catastrophic choice—you may not tell them they are subhuman or deserve harm.
✔️ What We Champion (DO)
- Explain your moral reasoning: Point to specific boundary violations, communication breakdowns, or double standards.
- Use the official verdict tags: Start or conclude your comment with NTA, YTA, ESH, or NAH.
- Upvote nuance: Reward comments that offer empathetic insight rather than cheap snark.
- Respect good-faith disagreement: Understand that diverse cultures and family backgrounds interpret etiquette differently.
❌ What We Strictly Prohibit (DON’T)
- No Hate Speech & Slurs: Zero tolerance for racism, misogyny, homophobia, transphobia, ableism, or religious bigotry.
- No Doxxing & Real-World Harassment: Never attempt to unmask real identities, link private social profiles, or contact subjects.
- No Violent Threats: Any wish of physical violence, self-harm encouragement, or brigading results in an immediate permanent ban.
- No Spam & Promotional Links: Unsolicited advertisements, affiliate links, or bot spam will be deleted instantly.
2. The Voting & Commenting Framework
When participating in our Bored Panda-style discussion section (“What do you think ?”), please observe the following conventions:
- State Your Verdict Clearly: Begin or conclude your comment with your judgment (NTA, YTA, ESH, or NAH).
- Provide Moral Justification: Explain why you voted the way you did. The most upvoted comments are those that unpack the emotional nuances and boundary violations.
- Vote Thoughtfully: Use the
▲ Upvotebutton for constructive, well-reasoned perspectives—not just comments you happen to agree with.
3. 100% Editorial Moderation Transparency
To protect our community from automated spam bots, offensive slurs, and malicious links, 100% of comments submitted on AITA Vibes are held in our editorial moderation queue. Our editorial team reviews submissions continuously to ensure conversations remain civil, substantive, and respectful.
